Businesses urged to save energy

Firms in the UK have been encouraged to start looking at ways to save energy.

According to Save & Generate, a website which provides the latest information on the best sustainable technologies, the same issues apply to a business or a domestic property.

Roger Hollies, director of the website, explained that the first step towards energy savings is to look at the site’s potential for reductions.

He noted that a business open during the day is “almost a perfect match” between solar power and commercial properties.

Mr Hollies noted that rising energy prices and new European Union energy legislation will be making an impact in the next few years, and businesses will be encouraged to do more to operate efficiently and save energy.

Andrew Boddington, director of marketing at Return on IT, recently claimed that smaller firms renting workspaces can find it difficult to improve efficiency as building upgrades are the responsibility of the landlord.
