Middle managers stressed over job security

The economic climate and the predications of a double dip recession in 2012 are increasing the levels of stress and anxiety faced by middle managers.
A study by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) found that middle managers have the worst work/life balance and have the least secure jobs, as they are often the first port of call for redundancies.
One in three feel it is likely they will lose their jobs in the next 12 months, compared to just 21 per cent of employees with no managerial responsibilities.
Just 15 per cent of senior management believe their job is at risk.
Ben Willmott, head of public policy at the CIPD, explained that those who have reached middle management often find themselves stuck between delivering strategic objectives and managing line managers.
The survey comes just days after a Kenexa survey of 60,000 employees found that UK workers are the most stressed in the world.
