Workers in the private sector are experiencing rising stress levels, but a new survey has found that the majority are proud of their contribution and happy with their role.
According to the Hays Career Outlook Survey, 71 per cent of commercial workers rate the pride they have in their work at six or above out of ten.
Even though 70 per cent of respondents admitted stress is increasing in their role, 57 per cent admitted they would look for a role in the private sector if they were beginning their career again and 80 per cent would urge university leavers to do the same.
Charles Logan, director at Hays, said: “The survey shows that despite the tough times faced by the private sector, staff remain remarkably positive and proud to be working there.”
The option of career advancement, support from management and the leadership provided in the private sphere were all highlighted as benefits of the sector.
The survey comes after a Kenexa study revealed workplace stress has reached a four-year high in the UK, making British workers the most stressed in the world.
