A fifth of pens lost in office spaces taken knowingly

Businesses renting their office space may need to budget for buying extra stationery as a new survey has revealed that some pens are being stolen knowingly.
Around half of the 1,000 office workers who took part in the Paper Mate study said they took a pen because it wrote smoothly and effortlessly.
Just over a third admitted to taking a pen from a colleague simply because they liked the way it looked, while 34 per cent took a pen as it was a nice colour.
Scott Crist, global director of marketing for Paper Mate, said: “There are always those who claim it was a mistake or that they absent-mindedly walked off with it, but since we launched our new InkJoy pens, I’m questioning motives.”
It appears the habit of chewing a pen lid can put off office thieves looking for a new writing implement.
Paper Mate has now provided a tool via its Facebook page enabling victims of pen theft to create a wanted poster and solve the crime.
