Businesses urged to encourage workers to stay healthy

Businesses in the UK have been encouraged to boost the productivity of their firm by promoting a healthy lifestyle to their workers.

Roger Harrop, a business expert and international motivational speaker, said that productivity can be improved through exercise.

He explained that simple measures can be implemented to boost the health of a workforce, such as cycling to and from work or exercising at lunchtime.

Mr Harrop also noted that arranging a five-a-side game with colleagues in the office can help boost morale.

“It is good for the productivity of the business if employees get fresh air and get their endorphins moving [through exercise]. There cannot be any doubt about that in my view,” the expert stated.

His comments follow a recent study by sportswear brand Helly Hansen, which found that more than two million workers in the UK exercise during their lunch break, a number that is set to increase as flexible working options continue to grow.
