Office supplies and furniture ‘should be an important concern’

While it may seem trivial to think about office supplies and furniture, one expert believes taking time to think about it could lead to a better working atmosphere.
James Geekie, design manager at Area Sq, said that people have now taken hot-desking to the next level and are requesting collaborative work areas.
He noted that there are lots of products designed to help people work, meet or grab a coffee in an open plan rented office space.
The expert added that flexible workers don’t necessarily need a dedicated desk area, but an area that is more of a “furniture solution rather than a built solution”.
“You then have a locker area to store your bits and pieces in. Ultimately what that does is to save companies money, because they’re not having to change the mechanical or electrical system to build a meeting room,” he added.
Mr Geekie also explained that office supplies should fit in with the overall design idea if the budget allows.
