Employees in the UK are becoming more frustrated with their low salaries, unfair promotion systems and poor career prospects.
A poll conducted by HR consultancy ETS found that 49 per cent of workers believe their basic rate of pay is not fair, up from 47 per cent in last year’s figures.
More than half (55 per cent) of those questioned said the bonus system used by their employer was unfair and 40 per cent claimed the way promotions are dealt with is unjust.
A lack of career development prospects was also highlighted as a cause of frustration by 46 per cent of respondents.
Hannah Stratford, head of business psychology at ETS, said it wasn’t a “huge surprise” that workers in the UK are dissatisfied with their pay packet.
“Every employee – particularly high-potentials – should have a career and targeted development plan. Whilst there may not be budget for additional training, managers should commit to acting as coaches, supporting employees with their professional development,” she added.
