Video conferencing can boost business’ green credentials

Businesses looking to rent and improve their green credentials in the process have been encouraged to implement video conferencing into their working practices.

Darren Clare, head of information technology at Zycko, said: “Video conferencing solutions for desktop, mobile and boardroom-style systems … can encourage mobile and homeworking.”

In terms of cutting down on the use of energy, Mr Clare says the cloud-based technology can lead to reduced electricity consumption.

It can also increase productivity as employees can fit in more meetings with clients in a shorter space of time as they do not have to travel between each one.

The government is currently working towards targets set out by the European Union to cut carbon emissions by 2020.

Businesses of all sizes are trying to contribute to energy savings and video conferencing could be part of the answer.

A recent survey conducted by Office Angels found that the improvements in technology and connectivity in the UK will mean more people will be taking up flexible working in the near future.
