It’s Mission Christmas in the North West

Customers at our North West business centres are giving a little extra Christmas cheer this year by supporting the Key 103 Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas campaign. This campaign helps children living in poverty to celebrate Christmas by distributing gifts and cash to them. 

Christmas appeal

As many as 1 in 3 children in Greater Manchester – more than 150,000 – are living in poverty. Last year Mission Christmas distributed £1.64million of gifts and cash to local children. 

Thirteen of our business centres in the region are supporting the campaign by acting as drop-off points for presents that will be distributed by the charity to children aged 0 to 18 in the local area.

Our customers have been generously donating gifts and cash to the appeal, and have been getting in the Christmas spirit at coffee and mince pie mornings that several of our sites have organised over the past week. This Friday will see our staff and customers spread festive cheer by donating £1 each to wear a Christmas jumper to work.

Proud to offer support

Michelle Tighe, our North West Regional Administrator, who’s based at our Europa Business Park in Cheadle Heath, heard about the launch of Mission Christmas while listening to Key 103, and drummed up support within Bizspace. It is a campaign we are proud to be supporting.

“Everyone who came to our coffee morning last week said they really enjoyed it and that it brought a lovely festive feel to the business centre,” Michelle says.

“Europa is a large centre spread across several buildings, so the event got people from different businesses chatting to each other, which was great.

“We’ve had some really nice presents donated, as well as a fair amount of cash.  People seem to like the fact that the presents go to local children, so they know they are helping out families in the area.”

Giving generously

The gift box is also getting nicely full at our Lomeshaye Business Village in Nelson.

Receptionist Elaine Warren organised treats of coffee and mince pies, which lots of customers enjoyed as they dropped off their presents.

“We’d had a few donations already, but the coffee morning certainly helped get people’s attention and we’re really pleased with the gifts people have dropped off so far,” she says.

“In particular we’re doing well with presents for older children and teenagers, so that’s fantastic.”

Our Sales and Marketing Director, Emma Long, comments: “Our aim is for Bizspace business centres to become a real part of their local communities, so supporting important campaigns such as Mission Christmas is something we are delighted to be involved with.”
