Macmillan Coffee Mornings across the North West

Bizspace business centres in the North West raised almost one thousand pounds for Macmillan through via several coffee mornings.

Our business centres have raised a combined total of £934 in aid of Macmillan Cancer, through a series of Macmillan coffee mornings.

While last year we raised money for one charity, this year we opted for regional charities that have some significance with either customers or staff in that region. For the North West, we are fundraising for Macmillan Cancer.

Coffee mornings were held at our business centres in Hooton, Nelson, Empress, Birkenhead, St Helens and Blackburn.

Our Blackburn centre raised the most money, in part thanks to a generous £100 check from customer John from STF solutions. He also won the sweepstake and donated these winnings too. Blackburn staff and families made a range of mouth-watering treats, including chocolate chip muffins, flapjacks, fruit cake and rocky road.

Claire Rothery, Centre Administrator said,

“The coffee morning brought everyone together. Our customers were very generous, donating more than the cost of the coffee and cake. In fact, one customer bought one of my mum’s homemade raspberry buns and liked them so much that he bought the whole lot!”

At Hooton, Centre Administrator Mark Faltin put in extra effort, providing little cake boxes for his cakes.

“I was like a finalist in the Great British Bake Off. There were no soggy bottoms here though and all my cakes sold too” he said.

More fundraising for Macmillan is planned in the run-up to Christmas and the gauntlet has now been set for our other regions!
