World’s Biggest Coffee Morning at BizSpace

Bizspace business centres throughout the UK raised more than £2,000 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, as they took part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning.

Bizspace business centres throughout the UK raised funds for Macmillan Cancer Support as they took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Macmillan is the chosen charity of a large number of our centres and we were delighted to welcome customers and guests to get together and enjoy coffee and cake as well as other fundraising activities, collecting a total of more than £2,000 so far.

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s largest fundraising event, with people all over the UK giving up their time to get together and collect money to help people facing cancer.  The event has been held every year since 1990 and last year raised more than £25million.

North East events

At our Design Works Business Centre in Gateshead – our newest business centre – there were competitions galore.  Customers donated prizes for a raffle and there was a best baker contest, as well as a guess how many spots on the cake competition.  The centre also celebrated the life of previous manager, Julie Brannigan, who died earlier this year.

“The event was a lovely way to bring occupiers and definitely for a good cause,” Business Centre Manager Sam Kane says.

At nearby North Sands Business Centre in Sunderland, the team also raised hundreds of pounds by selling cakes and refreshments.  Visitors were also treated to a surprise visit from a marmoset monkey and were able to have photos taken with the cute guest of honour.  Our Queensway Business Centre in Middlesbrough also took part in the fun.

Sweet treats in the North West

In the North West, five of our business centres hosted coffee mornings.  Our site at Hooton, Ellesmere Port, raised more than £350 selling cakes and holding a raffle.  Customers at our Preston Technology Centre, Lomeshaye Business Village in Nelson and Bold Business Centre in St Helens also gave generously.

North West Regional Sales Manager, Tricia Gibbs, says: “All the centres which took part really got into the spirit of the day and had a fantastic time networking, socialising and – importantly – raising money for such a worthy charity.

“Our teams did a wonderful job of organising creative and fun events that help to cement the sense of community that’s such a central part of all of our business centres.  Thanks so much to everyone who took part and came along.”

Our Atlantic Business Centre in Altrincham held their event on the 7th of October.
