Flexible workspace helps SMEs to expand
in Old Trafford
Many small and medium-sized businesses are continuing to relocate to, and expand within the Old Trafford area, despite the current economic climate, claims Bizspace, which operates the Empress Business Centre.
8Networks, an IT solutions provider, is continuing to expand as a result of increasing demand for high quality IT systems and support and has recently taken on another four IT specialists. “Companies across the Greater Manchester area are continuing to outsource their IT requirements and, as a result, we are receiving an increasing number of referrals and new business enquiries,” comments Thane Brooker, CEO. “Flexible managed workspace provides us with the ability to increase the size of the space we occupy as our business continues to grow.”
Another company that is also expanding at the centre is IPEC High Voltage Ltd which supplies on-line partial discharge (PD) test equipment, services and training to utilities and industry worldwide. “Almost 80% of our business is conducted with overseas utilities and industry customers,” says Allan Brisbane, marketing director, “And the surge in demand for PD testing has required us to grow from six to more than twenty employees during the past 12 months.”
In addition to businesses expanding in size, Bizspace has also seen a number of SMEs relocate to its Old Trafford centre, including the newly-formed African Business Consortium which has chosen the Empress Business Centre as the nerve centre of its operation being led by eight learning providers.
“With 110 business centres across the UK, including more than 20 in the North West, we are finding that the current financial climate is fuelling increased demand for flexible workspace,” comments Christine Wallace, Bizspace’s centre manager. “Businesses of all sizes are now finding it harder to make any long term plans and the flexibility we provide removes the headache of long term financial commitments, whilst allowing businesses greater freedom to upsize, downsize or even relocate to meet the demands of their market.”
