As children everywhere were busy putting together their Christmas lists, we were delighted to be helping Father Christmas himself to visit boys and girls throughout Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme while raising money for local good causes
The Christmas Float fundraiser has been an annual tradition for more than 40 years and has raised thousands of pounds for many deserving causes. In 2016, fifteen organisations from the local region joined Santa to visit the streets of Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme with their collection buckets, encouraging residents to give generously!
All the money raised during the events will be split equally between all the organisations involved and handed over at a special presentation evening in January. The groups include Scouts, school PTAs, and local, well-known charities.
‘Tis the season…
Gemma Gilliland, Business Centre Manager at our Europa Business Park said the partnership really put the centre in the festive spirit.
“This is such a well-known event that all the local community look forward to every year, so we were really pleased to be involved,” she says.
“We gave a donation to help get Santa’s sleigh on the road and we also provided sweet bags for Father Christmas to hand out goodies to children along the route.
“It was great to be involved with all the plans for this fantastic event and it well and truly got all the team in the spirit of the season.”
Putting Santa on the map
This year the route took in new areas, and an online Santa tracker helped residents plan where they could meet the big man himself. There were also new ‘Santa Stops’ on the route, where Father Christmas took time to stop and chat to children and find out what presents they were hoping to find under their tree.
“The Santa float has become an established sight and event around the village, having been operated for over 40 years. It is really fantastic to see the excited faces and smiles of the children when Santa comes around the corner,” he says.
