Co-working helps meet demand for office space

With the number of start-ups increasing each year, the demand for small offices is rising, but could co-working be the answer for many businesses?

As the number of new businesses is on the increase, co-working could help make sure there is enough space for everyone.

Figures from StartUp Britain claim 484,224 businesses were set up last year, up from 440,600 in 2011. According to their StartUp Tracker, over 360,000 businesses have been set up this year so far, and as the economy continues to recover, this number looks set to rise further.

As this number of new businesses increases, the demand for small offices also rises. Most new companies do not need and can’t afford large business premises, so small, affordable work units end up being at a premium, particularly in certain areas. Co-working spaces offer a great solution for those who don’t have the resources to commit to leasing property on a long-term basis. We explored this in our previous post, how co-working can help cash-strapped start-ups.

How we can help

Our new co-working initiative, The Work Lounge, aims to meet this growing need for flexible office space. We intend to create a network across the country where people can work in a professional environment, allowing them to work independently but within a friendly, collaborative community.

Our first coworking space opened at the Pixmore Business Centre in Letchworth last week and offers free parking, high speed internet and complimentary drinks. Because users have the option of paying by the hour, we offer an extremely flexible and affordable solution for workers. For example, you may want to cut your daily commute or simply need a casual place to work that gives you access to have a conversation with someone other than yourself or your cat. You can just register online and drop-in whenever you want.

We are planning more locations across the country, including in Brixton and Manchester. Our Brixton Work Lounge will meet some of the London demand for workspace and is an ideal spot for the more creative businesses and freelancers.

One of the benefits of Bizspace is that we can provide sustainability for your business in the long term. If your company outgrows our co-working space, we can help you to find you a suitable unit at one of our business centres.
