Coastline art celebration in Cockenzie

Our Cockenzie Business Centre will this year host part of the largest and most diverse arts festival in East Lothian.

The venue on Edinburgh Road will host exhibitions of paintings by local artists Patricia Kane and Carol E Duff as part of the week-long Three Harbours Arts Festival.

Now in its eighth year, the festival celebrates the proud history of the villages of Prestonpans, Cockenzie and Port Seaton, through a programme of art, music, workshops, tours, photography, drama and more.  This year, the 105m long Battle of Prestonpans Tapestry – sewn by more than 200 volunteers – will return ‘home’ for the week.

Original displays

“The Cockenzie Business Centre has a large common space that makes an ideal gallery area,” Business Centre Manager Gavin Luna says.

“We have opened it up previously as a gallery space and are looking forward to doing so again to show off some original, local artwork.  The festival is a very popular local event so we are expecting to welcome quite a lot of visitors.”

Situated in a former school house, Cockenzie Business Centre has houses on either side which will also be open to the public during the festival.

“There is always a happy, relaxed atmosphere during the festival,” Gavin says.

“People put signs up saying they have an open house and members of the public can go in and view more artwork in a more unusual setting and sometimes meet with the artists.”

The exhibitions at Cockenzie Business Centre take place on Saturday 1 June, Sunday 2 June, Saturday 8 June and Sunday 9 June, from 11am – 5pm each day.

Flexible office space

The business centre provides office space to let on a flexible basis, ranging from 150 sq ft to 1,300 sq ft.  It also offers free car parking facilities, on-site security and 24-hour access.
