Happy 1st birthday to our Team Valley Business Centre

We said ‘happy birthday’ to our Bizspace business centre in Team Valley, Gateshead which celebrated its first anniversary on 22 July, after being transformed from a vacant site into a thriving business hub.

Team Valley Business Centre was empty and unused until it was completely refurbished by UK Land Estates (our parent company) last summer. It’s now home to 20 businesses, offering a mixture of high quality offices, workshops and industrial units, plus a meeting room. 

Transformation at Team Valley

Business centre manager, Stacey Normandale explains:

“Before the site was refurbished I believe the corridors were in a dreadful state. Now, all of our units are bright and airy. Customers often comment on the abundance of natural light as a great work environment.

“They also value the 24 hour site access. Some of our customers said it was great to escape the World Cup football on the television and pop to the office at nine o’ clock at night to work!”

A party atmosphere

The centre has a diverse mix of customers, from eatery Valley House Deli Ltd, offering freshly made food, to Oddco Ltd a giftware manufacturer behind the world famous Bad Taste Bears. Other customers are from areas such as security, investment, property and media.

Stacey adds: “I love the variety of customers we have. It’s created a lively atmosphere at the centre.”

To celebrate its birthday the centre held a party which was well attended by both customers and external companies. Stacey even bought party gifts for guests to win in a free raffle and shared a birthday cake.

Events held at Team Valley Business Centre throughout the year have helped Stacey smash her target of 50% occupancy.

Events for the business community

Stacey says: “Hosting events are a good opportunity for people to become familiar with Team Valley and see what we have to offer.

“After our launch event open day, we held an Easter egg hunt complete with plastic eggs and a fluffy chick. I created a hunt trail around all of our offices and industrial units. Our most popular event was a recent networking and social media training session that also raised money for charity. There’s always something going on here and it makes for a fun working atmosphere.”
