“We have a team of six, and because we’ve been getting so busy we decided it was time to expand and create some extra room,” Director Julie Tumilty says.
“Previously we had an office and a storage room for our equipment, but we were limited by the space, in that we weren’t able to take on any additional staff. Now we have nine desks and potentially space for another three staff, so it gives us greater flexibility and a nicer work environment, with some breakout space too.”
Feature Media works with clients throughout the country, helping businesses with everything from strategy and developing a brief, to filming, editing and delivering a film in any format.
The team is set to welcome a third year university student on a placement until September. She will be assisting animators and helping with internal marketing, which Julie believes is the key to Feature Media’s continuing growth.
“We do regular email campaigns and have a good system for following these up,” Julie continues.
“We’ve also formed partnerships with web and marketing companies who don’t offer video in-house, and these are starting to see a benefit as well.”
Julie continues: “People are becoming wise to the benefits of video to sell products and services, as well as being a great way to save time and money in terms of training. People also seem happier and more confident to spend money on marketing, including videos, compared with a few years ago.”
Feature Media moved to Photon House as their very first office space, after previously being home-based. Julie says the central location, and the fact the business centre is close to both Leeds city centre and the motorway network, is a big advantage.
She explains: “The cost of the space is excellent value, and the fact we are not charged per desk really helps us to grow as a business. We pay for the room we need and if we need to fill that with more people it doesn’t cost more, which is a massive benefit for us as an expanding company.”
