Nursery given outstanding grade by inspectors

A nursery at one of our business centres has been ranked outstanding by Ofsted inspectors.

Lomeshaye Village Day Nursery is based in a converted mill at Lomeshaye Business Village in Nelson, near Burnley, Lancashire. The nursery looks after the children of people working on the industrial estate as well as those living in the area.

An inspector from Ofsted visited the site in late August and the education watchdog published its report last month. The nursery has been given an outstanding grade in all areas and is the first time the childcare provider has received the ranking.

Nursery Manager Lisa Waddington says: “We are absolutely delighted. We have been working really hard, but it is always reassuring when Ofsted recognise all the efforts that have been made.

“We are just so pleased. The inspector told us we were one of the biggest nurseries she had given outstanding to.”

Further improvement work

And the nursery, which has been owned by Louise Wilkinson since 2009, is already making even more improvements. It is currently completely refurbishing its outdoor play area to make it even better for the children.

The Ofsted report says: “Children thrive in this welcoming, dynamic and vibrant nursery. They enjoy extremely secure and warm relationships with their key persons and the staff team as a whole.

“The rich, well planned and stimulating environment, combined with high-quality resources, means children are provided with an exceptional education programme, which has depth and breadth across the curriculum.

Children enjoy a wealth of stimulating and exciting activities delivered by highly skilled enthusiastic practitioners. As a result, children are making excellent progress in their learning and development.

The inspector adds: “Children are extremely happy and enjoy secure and trusting relationships with practitioners who provide them with constant praise and encouragement. As a result, this boosts their self-esteem and results in them being extremely confident and self-assured individuals.”

Excellent business facilities

Lomeshaye Village Day Nursery, which had previously been ranked as good, looks after 190 children. It is one of a number of excellent facilities available to our customers at Lomeshaye Business Village.

Our historic site has been refurbished to a high standard and includes more than 80 offices, including one floor of serviced offices. There are also workshops, storage facilities and meeting rooms and we offer a virtual office service.

The site is suitable for a wide range of businesses with more than 50 commercial units in a variety of sizes, some of which have roller shutter doors. Based within Lomehaye Industrial Estate, our business centre has excellent transport links as it is near the M65 and within walking distance of Nelson town centre.

As well as the nursery, there is a café on site and a large amount of free parking for customers, their employees and visitors.
