Prizes and princesses at BSS House birthday party

Our BSS House Business Centre in Swindon is celebrating its 30^th birthday this year and to mark the occasion we invited customers, friends, family and members of the public to join in the fun and find out more about the businesses based at the site.

We held a fun day, which was jam-packed with activities from our 70 customers at the site, including dance and pole fitness displays, a craft fair, a visit from a ‘princess’ and a real fire engine, a raffle and plenty of special offers.

Visitors were invited to complete a treasure hunt around the business centre and the grounds, following clues and finding more about our customers to be in with the chance of winning a brand new iPad.

A year to celebrate

BSS House was Swindon’s first ever business centre and the team has been holding events throughout 2015 to celebrate its 30^th anniversary year.  A 1980s themed fun day held in April raised hundreds of pounds for The Swindon Therapy Centre for Multiple Sclerosis.

Business Centre Manager, Jane Kirk, says the weekend’s birthday fun day really helped cement the business community at the site.

“The members of the public who came were surprised at the number and the variety of different businesses we have at the centre and it was a great chance for them to try out some new local traders,” she says.

“Also, because the customers on the site all helped to organise parts of the event, it got more of them collaborating and working together. People have made new friends and new business contacts through it – which is what it’s all about.

“The craft stallholders who came along really liked the business centre and have said they’d like to hold fairs here more often.”

Happy home

Over the years more than 500 businesses have had their home at BSS House and 13 of our current occupiers have been with us more than 10 years.

Jane continues: “We are really proud of the strong business community we have developed at BSS House. It is a friendly work environment for both the companies based here and their staff and customers. We’re really proud to have reached our 30^th anniversary milestone and still be so successful.

“Our anniversary events have made the bonds between our customers stronger and helped introduce local people to the fantastic businesses we have at the site.”
