Sheffield manager gets off to a flying start

Our newest and youngest centre manager has got off to a fantastic start by increasing occupancy in one of our business centres to 100%!

Connor Johnson, aged 22, is Cluster Manager for South Yorkshire. Connor is responsible for Dinnington Business Centre, Baltic Works  (a renovated steel works that was a filming location for The Full Monty) and Cricket Inn Industrial Estate, all located in Sheffield. 

It the Cricket Inn Industrial Estate where Connor has achieved his first full occupancy in his new role.

“I’m really pleased to have increased the occupancy of the Cricket Inn Industrial Estate, from 82% to 100%, so soon in my new post,” Connor says.

Variety is the spice of life

Connor started in the role on 1 March 2014 and reflects on the past three months.

“My role is much more varied than in previous jobs, which is what I like. I’m enjoying the mix – it keeps life interesting. Every day at Bizspace is different. I start the day and it feels like five minutes have passed and then suddenly it’s five o’clock,” Connor says.

Previously, Connor worked in a range of sales positions.

“After I left college, I tried loads of different jobs, but then I got into sales and found I could just do it.

“I’ve managed to adapt my sales experience into my new role and this has helped me hit the ground running and achieve success in a short space of time,” adds Connor.

Dinnington rennovations

After his early accomplishment at the Cricket Inn Industrial Estate, Connor is now focused on boosting occupancy at our Dinnington Business Centre. The centre is a purpose built commercial property and has been refurbished under Connor’s direction.

“I felt Dinnington deserved a makeover. The décor was grey and cream and I thought it would benefit from a brighter colour scheme,” says Connor.

Before starting the refurbishment, Connor took the initiative to speak to customers to find out what improvements they would like to see. 

“I consulted existing customers and incorporated their feedback into the refurbishment. For example, customers said they would like new carpet in the reception area. It was important that this space was appealing and welcoming to visitors and potential customers, as well as for existing customers” he explained.

“If the outside of the centre and reception area look attractive, this makes a great first impression for a potential customer who is viewing an office that you may think is perfect for their needs.”

It took 14 days for the office makeover to be completed and both Connor and customers are delighted with the new look. Connor says
