Wishes for Christmas made real by radio
Real Radio Northwest visited our Nelson business centre last Friday, during our fundraising day for the station's charity When You Wish Upon A Star.
Businesses and customers helped grant Christmas wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses by holding a charity event.
Lomeshaye Business Village, our centre in Nelson, near Burnley, signed up to fundraise as part of Real Radio Northwest’s all day Christmas party last Friday. The event raised money for the charity When You Wish Upon A Star, which gives children suffering from serious illnesses unforgettable experiences and memories they can cherish.

Visit from radio stars
Everyone using the business centre was encouraged to bring in a pound to donate to the good cause. And staff from Real Radio paid surprise a visit to Lomeshaye during the event to see how the fundraising was going.
While they were there, presenter Oli Kemp interviewed Lomeshaye’s receptionist Yvonne Garnett, which was broadcast on the airwaves.
Yvonne says: “The event was fab – I put posters up on all our floors and I made a special photo framed event poster for our reception. I also made a collection box and we put cakes and biscuits out to say thank you for everyone who donated.”
The Nelson centre also encouraged our other business centres in the North West to get involved too. The fundraising total from our business parks is not yet known as donations are still being collected, but so far Real Radio Northwest has raised £52,300.
Yvonne adds: “At Bizspace, charity is close to our hearts and to be able to support our local communities is amazing.”
Celebrities joined 13-hour event
During Friday, December 13, Real Radio’s breakfast team held a special 13-hour show for the All Day Christmas party with guests including Leona Lewis, Robbie Williams and Little Mix. The money raised will help give youngsters with life-threatening illnesses a break from medical treatment and hospital stays.
When You Wish Upon A Star was formed in 1990 and since then it has granted more than 14,500 wishes, which could be anything from toys to once-in-a-lifetime trips.
Lomeshaye Business Village is one of our historic properties containing a mixture of serviced and non-serviced offices, workshops, storage units, meeting rooms and virtual offices. Refurbished to a high standard, it offers excellent value for money.
