5 tips for great results with Facebook advertising
Facebook advertising has become a critical part of today’s marketing arsenal and one that every business owner and marketing manager should be taking seriously. In this post, Jordan Bucknell, owner of Upbeat Agency gives his tips on the five most critical steps to getting started with Facebook advertising.
By following several simple steps all businesses can seek to improve their online marketing and conversion rates. This can come about through expanding awareness, increasing engagement, driving leads and generating sales.

The following tips will aid you in achieving all of these objectives and can be done so at minimal expenditure.
1 – The Facebook Pixel
In order to track your ads and work out what works best for your business, downloading a pixel is a must. This simple code installation will also open you up to the world of countless opportunities to reach the people that matter to your business. A pixel can be downloaded from Ads Manager and added to your website in a matter of minutes. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you on your way.

2 – Remarketing
Remarketing allows you to target people that have already been engaging with your business whether that’s with your blogs, making purchases or simply viewing your website homepage. This is a great way to grow your brand awareness and set yourself up for increased sales further down the line.
Use your Facebook pixel to track the events (actions) you wish to use for remarketing and don’t forget to use carousel ads as part of your ad creative.
3 – Data lookalike audience
Facebook will allow you to upload customer information such as email addresses and phone numbers that you have collected from sales and marketing lists. This data can then be used to build audiences to target on Facebook.
This is a really clever tool and will allow your business to build really specific audiences that are relevant to what you offer.
Going one step further than this and you can ask Facebook to find more people on their platform that look similar to the data you upload. This ‘lookalike’ audience is really powerful and is a great way to get fresh leads and new sales on Facebook.
4 – Video
In a world where 75% of mobile data is expected to be video by 2020, a successful digital marketer recognises the importance of getting to grips with video creation through Facebook. Video produces stimulating content for users and is available across different platforms and in different formats.
Video is a great way to reach new and existing customers and to increase brand awareness. It’s definitely something you should include when developing your Facebook advertising strategy.
5 – Take a multi-device approach
More people than ever are purchasing goods through mobile devices. Therefore, it is important that you don’t abandon mobile advertising in favour of desktop only placements such as right-column ads.
Similarly, don’t abandon desktop advertising completely! Make the most out of your adverts by learning how customers access your website and have an appropriate mix of cross-device adverts which reflect this. When designing your ads make sure that they look great on both mobile and desktop to ensure maximum impact.
So, there we have it. Implement these 5 tips and you can start to get some really great results with your Facebook advertising efforts.
