New saleroom provides ‘lots’ more space for popular auctioneers

A popular auction house at our Price Street Business Centre has expanded its premises in order to offer a greater number of sales for local residents.

Kruger Gibbons Auctioneers and Valuers already runs regular auctions from their business unit which they opened in June 2012.  These include fortnightly online auctions – which are open to bidders throughout the globe – and specialist auctions, which include rare or high value items, every three months.  The firm, which has featured on BBC show The Antiques Road Trip, has now opened a second saleroom at the business centre, which will be used for monthly general auctions, consisting mostly of house clearance items, modern furniture, mixed boxes, ceramics, jewellery, silver and pictures.

Increase in demand

Marketing Manager at Kruger Gibbons, Debbi Kruger, says the expansion is down to increased levels of demand.

“We began to see an increase in our household clearances and probates, which brought in a lot more furniture and general household items to the saleroom,” she says.

“As these items wouldn’t necessarily be of interest to the likes of buyers in America, we decided to produce a local auction which would benefit our buyers from the nearby area. We also wanted our local buyers to continue to receive some great bargains.”

Thanks to its business growth, Kruger Gibbons has recruited some additional staff to its team, including Office Administrator Emma Harris, who helps with admin duties and front of house, as well as Logistics Assistant Lee Dalton, who ensures all deliveries and collections are completed efficiently.  The business is something of a family affair and was launched by Debbi’s mum, Lynda Kruger, who is Finance and Office Director.  The firm’s Auction Director and Valuer is Adrian Kruger, Lynda’s husband.

Live auction buzz

There is always a buzz in the business centre on auction day and it means we welcome lots of visitors to the site.

Debbi continues: “For us, Price Street Business Centre is the perfect location. Buyers can easily travel from Liverpool, as we are very close to the Birkenhead and Wallasey tunnels, and are very close to the motorway for our Chester buyers. The free onsite parking again is a very big plus for our buyers who join us on the day and even collect purchases during the week.”

The new general saleroom is now open and Kruger Gibbons has an online calendar so customers can easily keep track of what sales are coming up.  The firm’s next specialist auction, to be held on Monday March 23, will feature antiques, decorative items, rare ceramics and period furnishings.  Lots will include a rare Royal Doulton figure of St George, with a guide price of £800-£1,200, and a private collection of Moorcroft pottery.

Our Price Street Business Centre features a wide range of flexible business space, including office space, industrial units, meeting rooms and workshops, as well as a meeting room to hire for up to 15 people.
