Quirky collectables spell success for Gateshead customer

Kylie figurines, Bad Taste Bears and iPad covers inspired by Back to the Future are just some of the products being designed and manufactured by one of our customers.

OddCo Ltd moved into our Team Valley Business Centre in Gateshead in November from another site nearby in the Team Valley Trading Estate – one of the UK’s largest trading estates.

Product Administrator Kirsty McGregor says the company’s previous unit had been a warehouse/office hybrid, whereas the company has now has two distinct and separate spaces. She says:

Our computers were always dusty and mucky before from the materials being used to make things. Now we have a nice working space to do our design work and website management and a separate warehouse for all our stock.

Do you need a bespoke product?

OddCo specialises in creating bespoke products for a number of clients including Firebox, Disturbia, Live Nation and EMI. The company is behind the successful range of Bad Taste Bears (figurines of teddy bears which get up to all sorts!) which are sold all over the world.

The firm was founded in 2008 and things have been going from strength to strength. It is currently made up of a team of seven staff, although the firm is hopeful it will achieve further growth in the future.

Kirsty says: “We have had a really good year. We did a really exciting project with Kylie Minogue where we made limited edition Kylie figurines. We also made some Breaking Bad products for Firebox and an iPad cover based on the sports almanac in Back to the Future.”

Exciting year ahead

The company also has some interesting projects lined up for 2014 but at the moment they are top secret.

OddCo is unique because it designs and manufactures all its products itself.

Kirsty says: “The client will come to us and say we want a really cool product. We’ll find out about their business and their brand and go ahead and make something for them. From concept to manufacture, we do the whole lot ourselves.

From start to finish we are the only people you are going to be dealing with. And we are always available for people to come and have a chat with us about a potential product.
