Thriving Bradford gardening firm benefits from storage units

A grounds maintenance company based at our Albion Mills Business Centre in Bradford has seen business blossom with the help of our self storage units.
Owner Jamie Barnett set up Evergreen Gardens and Designs 10 years ago, and first started off sharing a friend’s workshop. However, this meant a lot of travelling and the time came when Jamie realised he needed his own space, closer to home.
A family friend recommended he tried Albion Mills, and since then his business has gone from strength to strength.
“About two years ago I got my first self-storage unit, which was 150 square feet, and then later took on another 50 square foot business storage unit as my company grew,” he explains.
“It was really handy for me as it was so close to home and I could get my gardening equipment easily when I needed it, and there were lots of other benefits too.
“The units are secure and there are free parking facilities at the site, which is a bonus. Importantly, the storage units were low cost and had no utility bills and no hidden fees. It was a simple monthly price, with the option to come and go within a month, which I found reassuring. Plus, the initial outlay was just my bond.”
Jamie also negotiated some additional storage space, where he could store garden waste until the end of each week until he could get it recycled.
Valued customer
Evergreen Gardens counts Bizspace as one of its customers in the Yorkshire region. The firm performs grounds maintenance at Albion Mills, Parkview Court in Shipley, Calderdale Business Park in Halifax and Dudley Hill in Bradford.
As it experienced even further business growth, Evergreen Gardens progressed from using storage units to renting a full time workspace at Albion Mills. It moved into the space around seven months ago.
“I knew when it was time for something bigger, and when the unit became available I bit the bullet and went for it,” says Jamie.
“It’s a 780 square foot workshop so there’s room for all our equipment and I’ve created a small office space in there as well.
“Previously it used to be kitchens, so it took a lot of work to transform it to become just how we needed it. We’ve installed a full security system and shutters and created a wider opening to accommodate the ride-on mower.
“As and when the business expands again, I know I will be staying at Albion Mills.”
Evergreen Gardens performs a wide range of garden services such as landscaping, fencing, patios, paths, decking and winter maintenance planning including gritting and snow clearing.
