BSS House customers reach for the stars
Customers at BSS House in Swindon have shown their star quality, with one celebrating awards success and another working with famous football stars.
Two customers at our Swindon business centre have proved they have star quality – one working alongside David Beckham on the football pitch and the other celebrating awards success.
Meeting famous faces
Sports therapist Kate Cady set up Back2Fitness to help treat injuries and help people with their rehabilitation. The business has been based at BSS House in Swindon since October 2012 and has three clinic rooms, a rehabilitation area and a team of highly skilled sports therapists.
Kate worked alongside a whole host of famous faces as a sports therapist at the Match for Children in aid of Unicef at Manchester’s Old Trafford in November. The match featured footballing legend David Beckham, ex-England striker Michael Owen and Manchester United stars Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand playing for the Great Britain and Ireland team, which was managed by Sir Alex Ferguson.
Kate was contacted and asked to be the sports therapist for the Rest of the World team, which included the footballing greats Zinedine Zidane, Cafu, Luis Figo and Ronaldinho.
She says: “The experience was amazing. I loved the day and the opportunity to work with some of the best footballers in the world.
“To run out in front of 76,000 people at Old Trafford was memorable and to meet players such as Beckham, Ronaldinho and Figo was brilliant.”
Great Britain and Ireland won the match 3-1 with two goals from Michael Owen and one from Paul Scholes. Dwight Yorke scored for the Rest of the World.
Kate, who works with Swindon Town FC and the Swindon Wildcats Ice Hockey team, adds: “Back2fitness was set up to help treat and rehabilitate people from injury and to look at the whole person – not just the injury. I wanted a place where people were treated for the reasons why they had the injury in the first place and having the space at BSS helps me and the team to do that.”
Award success for beauty salon
Meanwhile, another customer at BSS House is celebrating after winning the Perfectly Pampered category in the Best in Swindon Awards.
Emma North started her beauty salon, Simply Beautiful by Emma, at the tender age of 22 on August 1, 2012. Initially, she treated customers in one small treatment room at a local gym before moving to BSS House in April 2015. She says:
I decided to move to BSS House for a few reasons, including its sense of community and reasonable rent. It’s a well-known building and easy to access from all parts of Swindon.
Since starting her business, Emma’s talents have impressed the judges in a number of awards:
- London, East of England and South West Recommended Salon of the Year at the British Hair and Beauty Awards 2015
- finalist in the Beauty Salon of the Year and Beautician of the Year categories of the English Hair and Beauty Awards 2015
- regional finalist in the Wedding Makeup Artist of the Year category of the Wedding Industry Awards 2016.
Emma now has big plans for 2016 and hopes to expand her business by taking on two members of part-time staff. She also wants to become a Dermalogica Facial and Body expert.
